Demetria Sneak Peak

Just got back from a family trip down to KY and I’ve been working through Demetria and Jonathans wedding. They were married at the River Birch Lodge Which blew me away. It was soooOOoo nice. I really liked these couple of Demetria. We had a full on fashion shoot for almost an hour using multiple lights and heads. It was sweet. You should have heard her though when I said we were going to walk into that field with her dress! :) Naw she was a great sport!

Detroit Yacht Club Wedding – Lindsey & Ryan

This Saturday in June started off a with a little threat of rain but ended up being a beautiful day. I met Lindsey in their suite at the Omni on the detroit river. Which has amazing window light btw. I highly highly recommend this one room in particular. Call me if you want details. While Lindsey was in the powder room it actually started to sprinkle and the bridesmaids quickly pulled the shades. After a quick sprinkle and Lindsey was in her dress Ryan met her at the bottom of the spiraling staircase. After some misty eyes we promptly took some pictures and then headed off to the Detroit Yacht Club. By then it was sunny which was perfect for the ceremony. Everything went off without a hitch through the Reception and we got a great late night long exposure shot in front of the chuppha. Great times with a great fellow dearborn couple. Enjoy the pictures!

The Cake: Iversons
Dessert: The Cupcake Station
Flowers: Bruce – Breath of Spring West Bloomfield
Dress: Elizabeth’s of Northville
Ceremony & Reception: The Detroit Yacht Club

The dress was as sweet in real life as the picture.

England played the USA in World Cup this particular Saturday. Sadly the USA lost but it made for some great times prior to the wedding.

Bruce from Breath of Spring does it again. Flowers were amazing from bouquets to Reception.

Almost all my fav portrait shots of Lindsey and Ryan were while we were in transit from location to location. They look so elegant walking around and just being together.

Another Windy day in on the river front.

The best man told a joke about what he was going to say that evening during his speech.

View from the yacht club.

What a look from Dad.

The first kiss.

Receiving lines are great imo. Yeah they take up time but its still a really emotional time immediately after the wedding, you get to see everyone, and it makes for some great pictures.

Love the movement, confusion, but yet obviousness of this image.

Roughy six exposures make up this image.

You always know when the trombone player sweats like its raining you’re in for a hot one.

St. Johns Plymouth Wedding – Mary & Brian

Mary and Brian…Mary and Brian…what can I say…lol…Brian has already said some funny sarcastic comment about this post already. I can only imagine. I love this couple! They are so fun and just make great times happen. I think its just how much they laugh that really gets me right there. Naturally they had a super fun wedding with a great band. The fun didn’t stop there. They actually folded 1000 cranes that decorated all of the receptions tables. Yes folks… 1000 cranes. That takes a seriuosly long time. Other notables were their choice of converse tennies and striped socks along with Marys amazing veil which I couldn’t take enough images of. Here are a few details and then on with a few of my favs. Enjoy.

Church: First United Methodist of Birmingham
Reception: The Inn at St. Johns
Wedding Gown From: One Enchanted Evening
Band: Drop 35 They were actually really good!
Cake: Sweet Dreams

About 10:30 at night it finally started raining after threatening all day. Brian and Mary were sports though and got out there under their umbrella while someone commented: “it looks like the photographer is doing flight of the bumble bee” in order to take the shot.

I love photographing Todds room door. It always looks so good. Great Button btw too!

Mary wrote a sweet note to Brian right before their ceremony.

Amazing Boutineers.

The pastor checks on Brian right before he’s to come to the alter. Note the asian script on the rope that the family had him wear. I think it says, “alpha” and “omega”. Pretty sweet.

Classic Brian move: the wave.

Why every couple doesn’t run through something after the Ceremony I don’t know! What great fun and great oppurtunity for images. I’m sure the guests get a kick out of chucking random items at their favorite couple too!

Mary also had some cute blue shoes.

I think Mary looks like Amelie in this image.

Brian gettin his crazy fun on.

The endless cranes. If you have never seen 1000 cranes this is sooo many. We were wading in cranes at this reception.

Grosse Pointe War Memorial Wedding – Heather & Michael

So I’ve been waiting years to shoot at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. When you only do about 20 weddings a year and often times they are out of Metro Detroit there ends up just being so many places to have a wedding. The War Memorial really lived up to the expectation as well. The space yielded beautiful light during the ceremony and reception. The catering and service was wonderful, and it ended up to be just a great place to have a wedding in general.

Wedding & Reception: The Grosse Pointe War Memorial
Coordinator: Cheryl Armijo with the GPWM.
Florist: Viviano Flower Shop
String Quartet & DJ: Panache They did a great Job btw.
Cake: Cakes our Specailty
Rentals: Chiavari Chair Rentals
Pre Ceremony: The Book Cadillac Detroit

So before the Ceremony Heather & Michael each got each a little something. Michael hooked it up with SONIC for all the girls and a new necklace for Heather. Note the sonic image below. Heather got michael an amazing watch. Lisa if you are reading this feel free to buy me one like this as well :)

More Gators fans! Seriously. Enough said. Heather also got each of bridesmaids custom pink flasks and they drank raspberry vodka to get the party started in the morning.

So this was the weekend of the Electronic music festival in Detroit and there was just all kinds of people roaming the streets. These guys gave Michael some marriage tips.

Spying on the guests fromt he 3rd floor at the GPWM.

Sequences are so nice.

After the wedding we did family pictures. I used those stacked chairs to get a little height. I just thought the scene was telling and interesting looking.

The way the shapes move your eye through this image is just amazing. It has such a strong color palette too. One of my favorites from the wedding for sure.

Gorgeous flutes.

Ann Arbor Wedding Photography – Jonathan & Sarah –

This spring Jonathan & Sarah were married at the Michigan League building. The ceremony and reception was held in the main ballroom on the 2nd level. It was a lovely wedding and beautiful day at the University of Michigan campus. Sadly we had some Gators fans roaming around the property (Jonathans groomsmen);) Despite this Sarah’s Dad brought out and flew the Wolverine flag and we took a Michigan pride shot with a few alum. As the day went on Jonathan and Sarah processed through the Kabbalat Panim, the Bedeken, and the Ketubah signing (all beautiful jewish traditions). The ceremony was very emotional as they said their vows and the reception was an unbeleivable experience with one of the most exciting Hoorahs I’ve every seen. Enjoy the photos below!

Coordinator: Staci Kennedy from Who’s got the Time
Flowers: Tom Thompson Flowers
Band: The Radio City Band
Cake: Jefferson Market and Cakery

Jonathan & The Guys working on their Hebrew before the Ceremony.

One of the most amazing Ketubah’s I’ve every seen. Yes folks that is cut out.

I like the clasped hands in the lower right of the middle image. I think subtle details like that make images.

Someone forgot a table! Thats ok Jonathans got a back!

Most unexpected hilarious wedding moment of the year. The bride is about to process. They close to doors. Music changes. Anticipation mounts. Then they try to open the doors but what! They are locked! Quick run to find someone to open the doors! Sarah and her parents had great spirits about the whole thing and had a great laugh. I think these moments makes weddings great too!

This little fellow put on a show the whole time. Running back and forth. I think he likes center stage.

Radio city band has Character!

This guy just gave a great speech. You can tell just by the way he put his arm on his hip that he is a character. I love how his wife was trying to take the Mic away the whole time too! Good times!

Some amazing dancing here between father and daughter.
